Underearthers is a inspired by the people how dwell beneath in Norwegian folk lore. Especially Nøkken a creature who dwells in tiny lakes and take the unweary into the deep. He can take on different shapes like that of a beautiful white horse. If you are foolish enough to touch the horse your hand will be stuck to it and he will drag you into the lake. The norwegian artist Thodor Kittelsen has made many images of the underearthers that toghether with the nature they are supposted to live inspired this colourway

Underearhters is a deep dark green like the darkness under the trees deep in the forest by a tiny lake.

This colourway was created as part of the Nixie shawl collaboration. I created this colourway, Jenny of Townhouse Yarn created two complimentery colours inspired by Irish folk lore, Julie knits in Paris designed a gorgours shawl in two sizes and the kits are exlusively available from This is Knit in Dublin but I can now offer just my colourway in my own shop.
